One of the various aims of the establishment of the Central Hindi Teaching Board is to prepare competent and qualified Hindi teachers for teaching Hindi in the non-Hindi speaking states of the country.

The main function of this department is to conduct teacher renewal, promotional and language awareness programmes for serving Hindi teachers from various non-Hindi speaking states of the country.

The main objective of the International Hindi Teaching Department is to bring qualitative improvement in the teaching, training and study-teaching of Hindi language and literature in India and abroad and to introduce students to Hindi literature/language teaching and Hindi research techniques.

The main work of this department is to conduct research and developmental works/projects related to Hindi language teaching. This department edits the research journal of the institute, Gaveshna.

The main function of this department is to conduct information technology training programs, language technology and educational multimedia development work plans for various academic departments.

The main work of this department is to prepare teaching material (text books, exercise books, dictionaries etc.) for the students of the northeastern states of the country.
