Introduction

The Guwahati Centre of Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra was established in the year 1976. The objective of this centre is to conduct short term refresher courses of 2 to 4 weeks to impart practical knowledge of modern techniques of Hindi language teaching to the teachers and propagators of Hindi working in the field of Hindi promotion and Hindi teaching-training in Northeast India. Along with this, a short term course of 2 weeks 'Hindi Bhasha Sanchetna Shivir' is also organised for Hindi training of school and college students. The working area of this centre is the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

Establishment

The Guwahati Centre was originally established in Shillong in 1976, from where it was shifted to Guwahati in 1979. At present, various activities in the field of Hindi teaching-training are organised by this Centre in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, under which the Centre organises short term renewal courses, preparation of text book material and dictionary creation etc. for the training of Hindi teachers serving in secondary and higher secondary schools of the states of North-East India. Along with this, a short term course 'Hindi Bhasha Sanchetna Shivir' is organised for 2 weeks for the Hindi training of school and college students.

Objective

Short-term refresher programmes and 'Hindi Bhasha Sanchetna Shivir' are organised for the serving Hindi teachers as well as propagators and students in the states falling under the jurisdiction of the Centre. Through these training programmes, teachers are introduced to new techniques of language teaching and efforts are made to maintain continuous awareness among them regarding the use of standard Hindi.
